With Claude, anything that deals with words is my preference. For example, I put together our prime agreement in Claude, did a detailed review, and then had it updated for everything we want to do. I have built a chat for that. I have the same kind of chat for our master subcontract agreements and our project work orders. Anything like that, I keep in Claude, so the standard language stays consistent from one agreement to the next.
ChatGPT for Creative Work, Finances, and Estimates
ChatGPT is my tool for anything creative. Here are a few examples:
- Creative concepts for our Lean logistics work.
- Concepts for a new book.
- Tracking our finances on a weekly basis. This is a really big one.
- A GC and GR estimate for a new project.
You might be thinking, nothing special here. But the next tool is what changed my whole life.
What Are Bots, and How Are They Different?
It is called Grok Bots. Each of these bots is its own little thing, like its own little human. Claude and ChatGPT are like working with an expert one-on-one. They do have agents too, but they are not quite there yet, and I am not very happy with them. A bot is like hiring a professional assistant that has a personal organization system and keeps track of things on its own.
Take my Travel Buddy bot. I do a lot of traveling, so I programmed it from the very beginning to track my travel. It automatically accesses my email, my texts, my WhatsApp, everything, and keeps me going as I go. I can ask it, what is the hotel address? It is right there. What do I do now? Here is my outline. We need to be there at 9:00 tomorrow. What is my breakdown? It is like a personal assistant tracking all my travel.
How Do I Use Bots Every Day?
I have bots for all kinds of things, and they are always working:
- Starting to bid projects with LeanTakt.
- Selling books on Amazon.
- Daily coaching to be a better husband.
- Fun things to do with the kids.
- LinkedIn replies. Every day at a set time, the bot checks my LinkedIn replies and lets me draft them all in one spot, so I can reply more quickly instead of tracking down where I need to reply.
On a jobsite, the same idea could work for a superintendent who needs one place to see every reply, inspection, and deadline, instead of hunting through email and texts. It is the same reason I like visual tracking on a project. When everything is in one place, nothing gets lost, and you get time back.
