Last Planner®️ System Training & Takt-Based Implementation | Elevate Construction

What is the
Last Planner® System?

The Last Planner® System is a collaborative planning and control method that lets field leaders make and keep reliable commitments, so construction work is properly coordinated and sequenced. Elevate Construction trains and implements it paired with Takt Planning—using pull planning, six-week look-aheads, weekly work planning, and field-ready metrics that actually hold.

Our Services

Don’t just “teach a class” and walk away. Stand shoulder-to-shoulder with your team to implement the full Last Planner® System, integrated with Takt and Takt Steering & Control, on real projects.

Pull Planning (Phase Planning)

Collaborative phase planning sessions where trades pull from flow-based takt milestones, not CPM guesses.

Look-Ahead / Make-Ready Planning

A structured six-week look-ahead window where only sound, ready work enters the weekly plan.

Weekly Work Planning

Weekly work plans that are filtered from the pull plan and Takt plan, not rebuilt from scratch each Friday.

Daily Huddles & Day Planning

Transform your daily huddle by moving it to the afternoon-before, protecting the highest-value morning production hours.

PPC and Modern Flow Metrics

Percent Plan Complete (PPC): promise reliability at the task level

Constraints vs. Roadblocks

Constraints – permanent or systemic limits inside the production system (zones, takt time, throughput, physical limits).

Takt Planning & Work Structuring

Design correct zones, takt time, and trains of trades well before execution.

Daily Zone Control Walks & Field Behaviors

Implement Daily Zone Control Walks to verify readiness, support handoffs, and surface roadblocks early.

The Complete Meeting & Information System

What Changes on
Your Project

01

1 PPC climbs naturally

into the 85–100% range because the plan is finally buildable.

02

2 Handoffs become crisp

and reliable; Perfect Handoff % rises and stress drops.

03

3 Roadblocks are identified

and removed days earlier instead of hours too late.

04

4 Foremen stop guessing

and start leading; superintendents stop pushing and start orchestrating.

05

5 The job shifts

from firefighting to calm, predictable, flow-based production.

Last Planner® + Takt Planning+ First Planner System® = A Complete System

The Last Planner® System is a collaborative commitment framework—its entire power comes from involving the people closest to the work, making reliable promises, and learning every week. It was never meant to fix a broken schedule, compensate for batching, or stand alone without a flow-based master plan.

Takt Production System ®

First Planner System®

The First Planner System® focuses on creating a well-structured, buildable plan at the leadership level, ensuring that work is properly sequenced, resourced, and free of major constraints before execution begins.
The Last Planner® System operates at the field level, where foremen and trade partners convert that plan into reliable daily commitments and production. The First Planner System® enables the Last Planner® System by providing a stable foundation. Without it, Last Planner becomes reactive and unreliable; with it, teams can achieve consistent flow, high commitment reliability, and predictable project outcomes.

Takt Planing

The Takt Planning is a flow-based scheduling approach that organizes construction work using a consistent time rhythm and defined work zones to create continuous, leveled production. It stabilizes projects by aligning workflow, trade flow, and logistical flow, enabling teams to reduce variability, optimize resources, and improve profitability.
While the Last Planner® System operates as a pull-based planning and commitment system, it relies on the takt rhythm as its backbone. Takt defines how work should flow, and Last Planner ensures teams commit to and execute within that structure, creating a fully aligned and predictable production system.

Takt Steering and control

Takt Steering and Control is the system used to monitor and manage production in real time, ensuring that all trades move through the project in a consistent rhythm based on takt time and defined zones.
While the Last Planner® System focuses on creating reliable commitments through planning and coordination, Takt Steering and Control ensures those commitments are executed in the field by identifying deviations, managing bottlenecks, and maintaining flow.
Together, they form a complete system where planning, commitment, and execution are aligned to achieve predictable and efficient project delivery.

Why Your Last Planner®
System Feels Fragile

For more than a generation, the Last Planner® System has helped teams collaborate, commit, and build trust. We love LPS. But across the industry, especially on CPM-driven projects and larger jobs, the results have been inconsistent and hard to scale.

What you see on the job:

The real root cause:

What You Get When
We Work Together

Working Process

01

1 Assess & Align

Review current schedules, LPS practices, and project conditions
Align leadership on goals, roles (First Planners vs Last Planners®), and expectations

02

2 Design for Flow

Build or refine Takt plans, zone structures, trains of trades, and buffer strategy
Define constraints vs roadblocks and set up the metric dashboard

03

3 Launch Last Planner® the Right Way

Facilitate initial pull planning, look-ahead, weekly work planning, and daily huddles
Introduce afternoon-before huddles and zone control walks in the field

04

4 Coach & Stabilize

Stand in the meetings and walk the job with you
Coach superintendents, foremen, and project engineers on behaviors, flow thinking, and roadblock removal

05

5 Standardize & Scale

Capture what works into standard playbooks and visuals
Prepare your team to replicate the system on future projects (your own Integrated Production Control System™).

Frequently Asked Questions

You can, but you’ll be fighting uphill. The Last Planner® System was never meant to operate on top of CPM logic or poorly structured phases. Pairing LPS with Takt gives you flow-based milestones, real zones, and buffers so the system can finally work as intended

We answer everything by asking, “what would respect people?” What would respect our employees, our customers, society, and ourselves. We do not do things that disrespects people.

Yes. We regularly join teams on-site to facilitate sessions, coach leaders, and walk the field so the system is grounded in real conditions—not just theory.

Absolutely. We start with a pilot project, build your playbook, and then support you in scaling a standard Integrated Production Control System™ across your portfolio.
